CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - After losing the opening match 4-3 to Western Kentucky, the University of Louisville women's soccer team swept through their next five opponents to win a 7v7 tournament at Illinois.
The indoor tournament hosted in the Illinois field house saw the Cardinals rebound from the loss to the Hilltoppers to crush IPFW 11-2. Following a 6-3 win over IUPUI the Cardinals defeated a team comprised of Illinois alumnae 5-4.
The final two matches went to overtime, with Louisville edging Eastern Illinois 3-2. The Cards then defeated host Illinois 5-4 in OT to capture the tournament title.
Louisville will continue the spring season on March 30 at Miami(OH) before hosting Dayton Saturday, April 5 at Cardinal Park and Kentucky the following Saturday in the Ville.
