LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville lacrosse team will be looking for its fifth straight win and the 12th overall as the Cards close their inaugural season on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET against Howard University at Greene Stadium in Washington, D.C.

The Cards enter the game at 11-4 overall following a 16-10 win over Cincinnati on Tuesday in their final home game of the season. First-year attacker Liz Lovejoy led the Cards with five goals in the win, while first-year midfielder Emily Dashiell added three goals.

Howard enters the game at 2-10 overall following a 22-4 loss at Davidson last Saturday. The Bison are led by junior attacker Sakita Holley with 41 goals in 12 games, while senior midfielder Candice Bouknight has 23 goals in 11 games.

The Cards enter the final weekend of the regular season with a pair of players in contention to lead the nation statistical categories. Bergan Foley, a first-year attacker from Huntingdon Valley, Pa., entered the week ranked No. 1 in the nation in goals scored with 4.23 per game. Her averaged dropped to 4.07 per game after scoring two goals in the Cards' win over Cincinnati last week.

On the defensive side, first-year midfielder Brittany Poist, a native of Hampstead, Md., entered the week ranked No.1 nationally in caused turnovers with 3.36 per contest. In the win over Cincinnati, Poist had five caused turnovers taking her season average to 3.47 per game.

Sunday's game at Howard will close the 2008 season for the Cards, but head coach Kellie Young and the University of Louisville lacrosse program will continue their efforts of teaching the game and influencing more young women in a positive manner by hosting the U of L Summer Camp on July 10-13 in Louisville. For more information, contact assistant coach Matt Lawicki at 502-852-4997 or matt.lawicki@louisville.edu.
