LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville first-year midfielder Brittany Poist leads the nation in caused turnovers and ranks fifth nationally in ground balls, while the Cards' lacrosse team is ranked in the top 10 in six categories in the first set of national rankings released earlier this week.

Poist, a native of Hampstead, Md., averaged 4.6 caused turnovers per game through March 9 to lead the nation and she was fifth nationally in ground balls with 4.4 per game.

As a team, the Cards are among the top 10 in six major team categories, including scoring defense allowing only 6.99 goals per game. The Cards are fourth in scoring offense with 16.31 goals per game and fourth in scoring margin at +9.6 goals per game.

Louisville is also fifth in draw controls at 16.4 per game, seventh in caused turnovers at 12.6 per outing and 10th in points with 117 through their first five games.

The Cards improved to 5-1 overall in their inaugural season following yesterday's 17-12 win at Lafayette as first-year attacker Bergan Foley led the way with five goals. Foley, a native of Huntingdon Valley, Pa., is ranked 14th in the nation in goals per game with 3.8 per contest.

Up next, the Cards will face Rutgers on Friday at 7 p.m. ET in Piscataway, N.J., in the fourth of five straight on the road during their spring break road trip.
